Information Report on the activity:

February 25 - 27, 2014 at IEC Crocus Expo there were held 7th edition of COMPOSITE-EXPO exhibition – a leading international specialized event in composite industry in Russia, where full range of manufactures of raw materials, equipment and finished products of composites is widely introduced.

In comparison with the last year display area increased by more than 50 percents. Over 130 exhibitors took part in the show from 18 countries (Austria, Belarus Republic, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Luxemburg, Macedonia, Netherlands, People's Republic of China, Poland, Russia, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom and USA). At the Composite-Expo 2014 there presented the following brand new materials and products: BauTex presented the new hydraulic press with closing power 600 tones, which will be operated for realization of the collaborative project on production of shower cabins bottoms made of SMC, has already been installed and operates now. Also there presented the project of 2 other presses, which closure power is 1000 tones, are used for producing composite items up to 1,7 m wide.

The area of fibre-reinforced plastics or composites is a growing market amongst textiles. Textile reinforced composites are used in many applications where high strength and low weight are key criteria. Overbraiding to achieve near net shape preforms provides a solution for various profiles to be used as composites. Expensive materials can be used more efficiently: fibres can be placed with the required angle immediately thus avoiding any waste of material. The whole manufacturing process becomes much leaner and faster.

To enable the efficient overbraiding of mandrels to manufacture complex shaped preforms, HERZOG has developed the Radial Braiding concept. The overbraiding takes place automated within little time avoiding any substantial filament damages. Various take-off and manipulating systems are available such as gantries and robots.

Airtech Europe Sarl exhibited new vacuum bagging film suitable for phenolic resins and used for commercial autoclave processing with maximum use temperature of 171°C; a new high performance bagging film for cure temperatures up to 426°C; tape film for covering mastermodels and moulds for permanent high quality surface release.

February 25, 2014 within the business program of the Composite-Expo exhibition there were held the Current State and Prospects of Development of Production and Use of Composite Materials in Russia, 7th Practical-Research Conference, organized by Union of Composites Manufacturers and Mir-Expo Exhibition Company LLC. During the conference there discussed the matters regarding composite materials manufacturing and use, and main problems of Russian composite market development and the ways of their possible solutions. At the conference the specialist of the many Russian and foreign companies took part. They are as follows: Techno Express CJSC, Stevik SAS, Dow Europe GmbH, FSUE VIAM, PLM-Ural LLC, BÜFA Gelcoat Plus GmbH & Co.KG, BYK – Chemie GmbH, RT-Komposzit Holding Company and Mikrosam A.D.

February 26, 2014 within the business program of the event there held the presentations and seminars of exhibitors. (Speech title: Key Parameters for Consideration in the Development of a Carbon Fiber Research Line), KROENERT GmbH & Co KG, Hamburg, Germany (Speech title: Resin film coating and prepreg impregnation technologies for thermoset prepreging solutions), Dow Europe GmbH (Speech title: DOW VORAFORCEtm composite solutions, epoxy and polyurethane systems based).

February 27, 2014 within the business program of the Composite-Expo exhibition there were held the Workshop: European Composites Industry: Trends, Technology (supported by COMPOSITES EUROPE). At the workshop the specialist of Geman companies took part. They are as follows: AVK, German Federation of Reinforced Plastics (Speech titles: Latest developments of composite markets & A new certification for composite manufacturers), Wolfangel GmbH (Speech title: RTM Technology), LANGZAUNER GmbH (Speech title: Press Technology).

At the same time with Composite-Expo, there held 2 international specialized exhibitions: Polyurethanex (6th edition) that allowed a wide range of specialists to get acquainted with innovation technologies of manufacturing and samples of finished products of polyurethane materials for different branches of industry and Adhesives and Sealants (2nd edition) that attracted significant attention of specialists of the industry: manufacturers and consumers of adhesive and sealing materials. More 60 exhibitors took part in the events from 15 countries (United Kingdom, Hungary, Germany, Italy, People's Republic of China, Lithuania, Netherlands, Belarus Republic, Republic of Korea, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, USA and Turkey).

It is worthwhile to point out a significant interest to the exhibition from foreign specialists, who were present at the event both as exponents and visitors as well.

Independent audit check of statistic figures were fulfilled for the third time during Composite-Expo and Polyurethanex exhibitions. According to the experts on the space of 5600 sq. m. there situated 191 exhibitors, including 118 national (domestic) companies and 73 foreign ones from 19 countries. Over 7000 people visited the shows and 90% of them were specialists in different fields of industry. It is evidence of the growing demands of the Russian market to use modern innovation materials and technologies in different industries.

The majority of the exponents showed the intention to take part in the 8th edition of  Composite-Expo next year. It’s planned to be held on February 25 - 27, 2015 in Halls 5, 6, Pavilion 2, Crocus-Expo, Moscow.
